Junior Leadership School (JLS)

The three training pillars of the Young Marines Program are teaching self discipline, team building, and leadership development. Junior Leadership School (JLS) is the first leadership school in the Young Marines program. It is designed to help Junior Young Marine Corporals and mature Young Marine Lance Corporals develop interpersonal and leadership skills. Upon completion of this school, the Young Marine graduate should have a working knowledge of the nine performance objectives in the Junior Guide book.

Great American History Adventure (GAHA)

 

 This outstanding, educational adventure is designed to stimulate interest in, and respect for the history and traditions of the United States by providing an opportunity to visit sites from first settlements of America to landmarks of the 21st century. Young Marines visit Massachusetts, New York, and Pennsylvania.

National Flight Academy (NFA)

 This outstanding adventure brings the latest in multisensory media and simulation technologies aboard the world’s only virtual land-locked aircraft carrier, AMBITION, creates an immersive naval aviator experience like none other. The science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) also reinforce the 21st Century Workforce Skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, and teambuilding.

Scuba School

 

This inner-space adventure gives Young Marines an opportunity to become thoroughly qualified in the “Aquatic” environment. Young Marines are taught in the classroom, pool and ocean. Upon completion of training, Young Marine receives Basic and Advanced Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Certifications. Registered Adult chaperones also participate in certain courses and all dives. Registered Adults must be physically fit and must be able to carry the same SCUBA gear as Young Marines. All attendees will perform a prequalification test upon arrival. This test will include being able to swim 200 yards non-stop using any swim stroke, tread water for 5 minutes (hands above water for last minute and a 50 meter underwater swim).
